Breaking Disney News

Every D23 Update!

It's D23 weekend, mamas! Every two years Disney gathers its biggest fans in Anaheim for a jam-packed few days of announcements, first looks, and surprise celebrity appearances — and last night's Disney Entertainment Showcase brought the fireworks early. Here's the full rundown of what got announced, organized so you can skim the highlights or dig into the details.

Marvel

Avengers: Doomsday got a brand new trailer with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell all appearing on stage together. The film brings characters from across the Marvel universe together, with Doctor Doom as the central threat. Mark your calendars — it hits theaters December 18, 2026.

The long-rumored X-Men reboot finally revealed its full cast: Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as the villain Mister Sinister. It's set for May 5, 2028.

Fans of WandaVision will want to note VisionQuest, starring Paul Bettany and James Spader, wrapping up the trilogy that began with WandaVision and Agatha All Along. It premieres on Disney+ on October 14, 2026.

Star Wars

Ahsoka Season 2 got a first tease with Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen, and Eman Esfandi back on stage — arriving January 2027.

We also got our first proper look at Star Wars: Starfighter, with Ryan Gosling confirmed in the lead role of Cade Oberon.

Disney Animation & Pixar

The big emotional moment of the night: Frozen 3. Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad performed live, and the footage revealed that Anna and Kristoff are getting married — with a mysterious new villain wearing a cape made of ice shards lurking in the background. It arrives in theaters November 24, 2027.

Bart Simpson himself showed up to introduce The New Simpsons Movie, hitting theaters September 3, 2027.

A brand new animated film called Hexed was revealed, starring Hailee Steinfeld, Walton Goggins, and Jodie Foster in a world of witches — coming November 25, 2026.

For the little ones (and let's be honest, the moms too), The Bluey Movie got its first teaser trailer and poster. It arrives August 6, 2027.

Disney also confirmed Zootopia 3 is officially happening, though no release date was shared yet. On the Pixar side, updates rolled in on Coco 2, Incredibles 3, Ghost Market, and an original film called Gatto — exciting news, though exact release dates weren't consistently nailed down across coverage, so I'll update this post once those are locked in.

Other Big Reveals

Kingdom Hearts fans got news of a new project targeting a late 2027 window (reports vary on whether this is a game or an anime series — stay tuned).

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 debuted a teaser trailer with Walker Scobell, Ming-Na Wen, and Andra Day. It premieres on Disney+ November 20, 2026.

The live-action Tangled also got its first look on stage, though a firm release date wasn't confirmed.

What's Still to Come

This was just night one! Tonight is the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase — the panel where Disney typically reveals the biggest theme park news: new lands, new rides, and updates on projects like Piston Peak National Park and the upcoming Villains Land at Magic Kingdom. As a Disney parks family, that's the one I'm really watching closely, so keep an eye out for a follow-up post once it wraps.

Until next time, stay magical, mama. ✨

D23 2026 Just Wrapped — Here's Everything Disney Announced Last Night

Grab your Mickey ears, because D23 2026 kicked off in Anaheim last night with the Disney Entertainment Showcase, and it did NOT disappoint. From Frozen 3 to a brand new Avengers movie, here's everything you need to know.

Magic Kingdom

Carousel of Progress is getting new voices for Mom and Dad — Disney Legend Jamie Lee Curtis and Emmy winner Bryan Cranston — plus an updated 1980s scene, starting late spring 2027.

Piston Peak National Park (the new land replacing Rivers of America in Frontierland) got two attractions confirmed:

  • Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along — a spinning ride starring the demolition derby champ from Cars 3.

  • Cars Ridge Run Rally — racers climb mountain trails, cruise through snowy peaks, and race past erupting geysers, with Lightning McQueen and Mater providing commentary from the sidelines.

Villains Land finally has story details: guests step into a cursed forest and a broken Wishing Well, with dark magic from Disney's most infamous villains around every corner — including a coaster racing through Maleficent's enchanted briars and an experience inside the Magic Mirror's realm.

Animal Kingdom

Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto — the Madrigal family's Casita is coming to Tropical Americas! Guests will be invited in on Antonio's special gift day, exploring brand-new rooms created just for the attraction.

Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent — also in Tropical Americas, this all-new Indy story sends guests into an ancient Maya temple with a massive serpent inspired by Maya mythology.

The Yeti at Expedition Everest is finally getting fixed and roaring back to life.

EPCOT

Spaceship Earth is getting its first major update in almost 20 years, expanding the story from human communication to human connection.

Figment and Dreamfinder are returning with a full reimagining of Journey Into Imagination.

Hollywood Studios

Monsters, Inc. Land (Monstropolis) opens in 2027, with a Mike and Sulley theater show, Harryhausen's, and Archie's Scare Pig Pizza — featuring an original song from Disney Legend Randy Newman.

Disneyland Resort (California)

Tomorrowland is being reimagined, preserving what fans love while adding new experiences.

Avengers Campus is doubling in size by 2028 with two new attractions: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, featuring Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, and Brie Larson reprising their roles.

Refreshed nighttime spectaculars are also coming back in 2027: "Remember...Dreams Come True" fireworks, an updated "World of Color" at Disney California Adventure, and the return of the "Magic Happens" parade for summer.

Also at Disney California Adventure: the first-ever Coco ride, picking up a year after the original film and tying into Coco 2, taking guests by boat through Miguel's memories of the Land of the Dead.

International Parks

  • Shanghai Disney Resort is getting the first Disney park land ever fully dedicated to Spider-Man, with a new coaster and the WEB Brigade.

  • Hong Kong Disneyland is getting a new Avengers Pavilion with an Avengers Research Testing Lab and Quinjet landing platform.

  • Disneyland Paris is bringing back Space Mountain's original name and story with "Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune."

  • Tokyo Disneyland is getting a brand new Space Mountain: Earthrise as part of a reimagined Tomorrowland, plus a Wreck-It Ralph-themed ride, Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue.

  • Disney Adventure World (Paris) is getting its first-ever Lion King attraction.

Disney Cruise Line

The Disney Believe sets sail in 2027, with Moana greeting guests in the Grand Hall and Tinker Bell, Buzz, and Woody featured on the ship's exterior design. Disney also announced a brand-new class of ships arriving in 2029.

That's a WILD amount of news for one weekend, friends. Between the movie slate and everything coming to the parks, there's truly something for every kind of Disney fan in this family. I'll be doing deeper dives on my favorites — especially Piston Peak and the Encanto attraction — in the weeks ahead, so keep checking back.

Believe it or not, we're basically there!

Disney's first Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off the first week of August, which means you'll likely start seeing Halloween decorations popping up around Magic Kingdom very soon.

Sometimes Disney decor appears overnight...it's honestly one of my favorite transformations to watch.

Hi, I'm Katlyn — the mom behind Disneymomcentral! I share weekly Walt Disney World updates, crowd forecasts, and insider tips to help families plan smarter, stress-free trips. My goal is to turn all that chaos into simple, easy-to-follow guides you can actually use. When I'm not tracking the parks, you'll find me making magic (and memories) with my own family at Disney World.
